DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – The Force is strong with this one.
Brennan Poole will be channeling Luke Skywalker during Saturday’s Xfinity Series season opener at Daytona International Speedway.
The Chip Ganassi Racing driver is wearing a helmet with an unusual paint scheme – that of Skywalker from Star Wars. And it’s not just some decals or airbrush work.
The Rebel Alliance logo, scratches and scuffs movie goers will remember from one of the more famous scenes in the franchise – the rebels’ attack on the Death Star in Episode IV: A New Hope.
For the uninitiated, Episode IV was the first movie released – back in 1977.
All of the effects were hand painted as part of the concept from Jason Beam at BEAMdesigns, who has been designing helmets in motor sports for three decades.
No word yet on whether Poole will be as fast as an X-wing fighter.
