Here we go.
The Broncos are the first to act in the musical chairs of quarterbacks this offseason.
Denver will sign Case Keenum when free agency officially begins Wednesday, ESPN reported early Tuesday. That brings the Kirk Cousins sweepstakes down to three: the Jets, Vikings and Cardinals.
Minnesota is widely considered the favorite to sign the former Redskin and biggest quarterback on the free-agent market. The Jets have $90 million in cap space to try to lure him.
The Broncos had major issues at quarterback last season, using a mixture of Trevor Siemien, Paxton Lynch and Brock Osweiler, en route to a 5-11 record. Denver has the No. 5 pick in April’s draft.
Keenum came out of nowhere last season to lead the Vikings to the NFC Championship Game after taking over for Sam Bradford, who was lost for the season with a knee injury, in Week 2.
Keenum went 11-3 as Minnesota’s starting quarterback, and threw for 3,547 yards, 22 touchdowns and just seven interceptions.
Keenum cannot officially sign until 4 p.m. Wednesday.
