Puerto Rico Goes Blond to Support Its Baseball Team

The Puerto Rican baseball team’s success at the World Baseball Classic has gone to its fans’ heads, as residents of the island have copied the players’ trend of dyeing their hair blond — to the point where Puerto Rico has run out of hair dye.

The Puerto Rico squad — which faces the United States in the final of the World Baseball Classic on Wednesday — have sported different variations of blond hair throughout the tournament. Some players have opted to dye their entire heads; others have just colored patches; some have even turned their beards blond.

As the team advanced, the people of Puerto Rico joined the trend. On an island where most of the men have thick, dark hair, blond locks have been showing up in support of the team.
